How Long Can Restoril (Temazepam) Be Detected In Your System?

Temazepam (brand name Restoril) is a drug used for anxiety and short-term insomnia treatment, and it’s detectable in the system for about 24 hours. Various types of tests can detect it in your system for different lengths of time.

Like other benzodiazepine detection times, the detection window for Restoril can be anywhere from 24 hours (urine and saliva testing) to 90 days (hair testing), depending on the type of test.

This medication is often prescribed for anxiety. Other medications serving this purpose include Valium, Xanax, and Ativan.

Restoril can also be used for short-term insomnia treatment or in place of muscle relaxants.

Temazepam Drug Test Detection Time

This medication is often tested with 5-panel drug screenings, as benzos can be drugs of abuse. It is not prescribed for long-term use because of this.

A false positive for this drug is unlikely, but not unheard of. Standard testing cannot differentiate temazepam from other benzodiazepine drugs, such as clonazepam.

How Long Does Temazepam Stay In Your Urine?

The average window of drug test detection for temazepam is 5 days for a urine drug screen. A urine test is the most common form of routine testing for drugs such as this.

This type of testing does tend to have higher rates of tampering than other tests, as urine samples are not directly observed by clinicians at all times.

How Long Does Temazepam Stay In Your Saliva?

A positive result for temazepam saliva testing can appear for 24 hours after use. Oral fluid tests tend to be less popular when testing for benzos, as the window of detection is small.

However, this type of testing is occasionally done in the case of workplace accidents to confirm or rule out substance use as a contributing factor to the accident.

How Long Does Temazepam Stay In Your Blood?

Temazepam can appear in blood test results for about 24 hours after it has been consumed.

Blood tests are not very common for this type of substance use, as there is such a small detection window for this form of toxicology.

How Long Does Temazepam Stay In Your Hair?

Hair testing has the longest average drug test detection window of all tests for drugs and alcohol. Temazepam can be detected in metabolites for up to 90 days in hair.

It will take a few days for the drug to be detectable in hair. Typically, about 7 to 10 days worth of hair growth needs to occur before it can be measured.

Can Temazepam Be Taken Long-Term?

Short-term use of temazepam is much more common and encouraged, as long-term use of this benzodiazepine medication and others of this class of drugs can become habit-forming.

When used as prescribed, short-term use of temazepam is safe and effective. However, it is still vulnerable to abuse, similar to opioid, barbiturate, or amphetamine medications.

How Quickly Does Restoril (Temazepam) Work?

Benzodiazepine drugs come in many varieties. These can include short-acting drugs such as triazolam and flurazepam, and long-acting drugs such as diazepam and nordiazepam.

Temazepam is an intermediate-acting drug, similar to oxazepam and alprazolam.

How Does Restoril Work?

Restoril is a central nervous system depressant. This means that after ingestion, the drug slows down the nervous system, causing a sense of calm due to decreased neurotransmitter activity.

This can also cause a false sense of well-being and euphoria, the feeling of being high.

How Long Do The Effects Of Restoril (Temazepam) Last?

The half-life of temazepam is about 9 hours. This means that it takes 9 hours for half of the drug to be excreted from your system.

Other factors can affect how long the drug lasts, such as your age, weight, frequency of use, concentration, whether it’s taken with other drugs, and more.
