Spring Hill’s Residential Addiction Treatment Program
People facing addiction come to Spring Hill to find lasting solutions for recovery and experience the healing influence of our peaceful mountainside setting. Our residential program gets at the roots of your addiction with trauma-informed care and a community of support.
Residential treatment is one of the most effective treatment solutions for long-term addiction recovery. It is especially beneficial for people with moderate to severe substance use disorders or co-occurring mental health disorders.
Key Aspects Of Our Highly Effective Program
The residential program at Spring Hill Recovery Center is based on evidence-based treatments and a holistic approach, but no two people experience the program the same way.
That’s because care here centers on each client’s personal experience with addiction, providing tailored solutions for an individualized recovery journey.
Compassionate, Client-Centered Care
Shortly after arriving at Spring Hill in Ashby, MA, you will meet members of your care team and receive a biopsychosocial assessment to reveal your treatment needs and recovery goals. A personalized treatment plan will be created for you, providing a step-by-step path to recovery with flexibility for adjustments along the way.
This client-centered approach recognizes the widely varying care needs among people in recovery. For instance, while one person might benefit significantly from family therapy, another might not experience much help at all but gain great insights from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) or another treatment approach.
Addiction is a difficult disease to recover from, and our natural compassion and admiration for people who have the courage to face it has also proven to be beneficial to our clients.
A Multidisciplinary Team
Residential treatment at Spring Hill provides the tools and support necessary for long-term recovery through a multidisciplinary team of nurses, an onsite psychiatrist, master’s-level therapists, case managers, fitness and nutrition specialists, and support staff, all specializing in addiction recovery and dual diagnosis care. We work together to make sure that our clients’ medical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual care needs are met during recovery. This includes connection with services that we don’t provide on site, such as medical detox, and help with transportation when needed.
Evidence-Based Therapy
Specific types of therapies are among the solutions we provide that are proven to help people recover from addiction and co-occurring disorders. This includes one-on-one therapy sessions and daily group sessions.
Proven-effective therapy options at Spring Hill include:
- cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- community reinforcement approach (CRA)
- motivational interviewing (MI)
- psychoeducation
- family therapy
Family Involvement & Support
In addition to family therapy, we offer other ways for supportive family members to get involved in their loved one’s recovery. Our five-week family education series focuses on family psychoeducation (FPE) for helping families understand what their loved one is experiencing and how to best support them in their recovery. Topics include “Active Addiction: The Brain Disease That Craves Isolation,” “Addiction Treatment and the ‘Rugged Individualist,’” and more, available through virtual meetings to increase accessibility.
MAT Options
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach to recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD), combining FDA-approved medications with behavioral support such as therapy or counseling.
Your care team at Spring Hill will help determine if you are a good candidate for MAT and, if so, which medication would be most beneficial, and then create a treatment pathway. If you started MAT during detox, our medical team will provide ongoing monitoring to ensure that the desired outcomes are being achieved, making adjustments as needed.
Holistic Wellness Services
Treatment at Spring Hill involves a whole-person approach, or one that addresses many factors affecting our clients’ health and well-being during their recovery journeys. Nutritious home-cooked meals are provided daily, along with opportunities to work out in our fully equipped gym or get outside and enjoy nature. We schedule wellness activities like movie nights, karaoke, and yoga classes, and our Friday night bonfires with s’mores are consistently popular, sometimes accompanied by live music. Other popular activities include walking the path on campus to enjoy our forest setting, playing basketball or other sports, doing arts and crafts, meditating in our meditation garden, and more.
Our Beautiful Campus & Accommodations
Nestled among the mountains and woodlands of central Massachusetts, Spring Hill’s expansive campus of more than 70 acres offers a beautiful setting for healing from the effects of addiction, with cozy residential cabins and other gender-separate residences for our clients. When the weather is nice, group therapy sessions may be moved outside to enjoy our peaceful surroundings.
Case Management And Aftercare Support
Because addiction affects so many areas of a person’s life, help may be needed with employment or education opportunities, legal issues, housing, and other critical needs. At Spring Hill, your case manager will work with you throughout your stay to address these needs.
As you near completion of your treatment program, your care team will discuss with you options for continuing care, which may include connection with an outpatient program, ongoing therapy, sober living housing, peer support groups, and more. Joining our alumni program helps keep you connected with the Spring Hill recovery community, alerting you to peer support meetings, sober activities like holiday parties, and other opportunities to engage with alumni and treatment staff.
